Savings Goals & Standing Orders

A goal, not just a balance — enforced by the system, not willpower.

Name what the money is for, set the amount and date, and optionally lock it against early withdrawal. One standing order can then split a single recurring contribution across every goal a member is saving toward, automatically.

How it works

From a named goal to a standing habit

1. Set the goal

Name it, set a target amount and date — school fees, a deposit, an asset of your own.

2. Standing order

One recurring contribution auto-splits across several goals by rule — no manual transfer each time.

3. Lock it, optionally

Choose to lock a goal against early withdrawal — discipline enforced by the system, not just intention.

If plans change

Breaking a goal early costs something — but never to the cooperative

A locked goal can still be broken before its date if a member genuinely needs to. It carries a penalty, but that penalty is never kept by the cooperative — it donates straight to the Sadaqah pool, so even changing your mind ends up doing some good.

Penalty → SadaqahNot retained by anyone — routed to voluntary giving automatically.

What a goal actually enforces

  • A goal can be locked against early withdrawal, if the member chooses to
  • One standing order can auto-split across several goals by rule, on schedule
  • Breaking a locked goal early is allowed — the penalty donates to Sadaqah
  • Every deposit toward a goal lands on the same reconciled ledger as everything else

Goals sit on top of your main account
